HEY!

November's Pick: Vedetta Oretta

Did you get the pun?

November's pick is a real shining star in and of itself! From the leather coated menus to stunning interior, Oretta brings the simple yet classic taste of Italy to King Street West.

Oretta means "an hour o'clock" in Italian but you probably would like to sit & dine for more than just an hour! Authentic yet modern, the restaurant prides itself on thoughtful service and the finest Italy has to offer in food & drink.

Food can't be good without great company! Stephanie and I went for a long-due weekend brunch to catch-up on work and dating life. We both agreed at the end that Italian food is "usually" as quality as Italian men. LOL

From the brunch menu, Steph went with the "Uova Burrata e Tartufo" dish featuring a fresh burrata and black truffle on top of scrambled eggs and a side of focaccia. "The burrata is so fucking good!" - said Steph.

With the amount of focaccia in Steph's photo above you shouldn't be surprised that we got extra bread! They were also freshly made in-house and I think they were complementary.

My brunch choice was the "Gnocchi alla Romana". This dish was the reason why I decided to feature Oretta on this month's pick! So fucking delicious! Not only that I was obsessed with the barese sausage, the romano bean stew brought the house down. Such savoury & sweetness in one plate. The various texture from my egg yolk to the beans and the saugage, I wiped it clean. :D

Each dish was both pretty filling so we didn't have a chance to try out other brunch items. But boy were they good!

Since the brunch section is ending on a short note, you're getting a bonus of the Caffe concept at Oretta! This place doesn't cease to surprise me as I later discovered their little coffee shop attached to the back of the building. You have to walk to the back of the alleyway on the left side of the restaurant entrance to get to it!

The cafe serves a pretty great selection of breakfast item along with espresso. I always get this prosciutto croissant when I have a chance to stop by in the morning. Absolutely delicious! Bravo!
