HEY!

ABOUT THE BRAND
"HEY, IT'S HUY!" IS A BRAND OF FOOD, FOLKS, AND CULTURE. THE BRAND STANDS FOR CREATIVITY, CONNECTION, GIVING BACK, AND DIVERSITY.

The brand is created by Huy (you can find more info about Huy by scrolling down) to share his passion for food, culture, and people with folks around the world. On this site, you'll find content, partnerships, and faces that Huy believes are doing great things for the community and share interest in what this brand stands for.

You will also find photographs and recipes that Huy creates through his home-cooking adventures. The brand celebrates creativity and diversity, and does not tolerate hatred and discrimination of any kind.

There are four components of the brand's logo and their meanings are explained below.

the word "hey" with the lettle "h" bolded.

"Hey"

Hey is where it all begins!

At networking events, the first word Huy says reaching out his hand and offering a shake, is “Hey”. When walking down the street of Toronto, “Hey” comes out when Huy spots a familiar face and wants to say hi. When scrolling through the feed of Instagram, Huy says “Hey”; “that looks pretty cool!” even though he was by himself. So Huy says “Hey” a lot, and so now he’s hoping to get to know you, starting with a “Hey”.

The Comma

Comma, is what keeps the stories going.

“Hey” will be followed with some awkward facial expressions if it stops there, and so it should not! The comma represents the continuing of the first 'hey' from both sides of the conversation. Hey has no meaning if it does not spark a continuing dialogue.

Huy is (my) name...

...but a lot of the time it carries the meaning of diversity. Every time Huy gets a pronunciation of “Hue”, “Hui”, “Hu”, or “Huey”, he gets excited. Because it means that there’s an opportunity for him to represent his culture to folks by telling them how to correctly say it, as well as an opportunity for folks to get to learn about a new name. Huy believes that the variation in names is one of the many faces of diversity.

The Exclamation Mark!

Surprised! And be surprised!

Is an objective for Huy to not only create a great impression but to inspire others. Because the sign can mean a memorable experience and at the same time, a light bulb for new ideas!

Huy is...

Huy started to cook since he was 12 to help his mom who'd always come back late from working at the fabric market. And so a lot of what you're seeing is home-inspired and mom-inspired cooking. Huy does not go through any culinary school but he watches Masterchef a sh*t ton and his friends compliment his cooking...so please don't be too hard on the made-up home-cooking posts!

What Huy has, indefinitely, is the love for food, the folks, and their culture behind. Huy believes in the cliché saying of "we are what we eat" because every meal is put together by a person and what ingredient they use, where they go to shop, which spice they favour, what technique they prefer, are all a reflection of that person's cultural background on the plate.

Huy graduated with high honours (come on, a little bragging won't hurt anyone) in Marketing Management and recently got back in school for Applied Economics. He has a 2-Dan Blackbelt in Taekwondo and instructed a class for a while back. Huy's way cooler offline and is always down for coffee. :D
